The treatment resulted in half of the patients having complete or partial responses that lasted for about 30 days in 54 migraine sufferers. Half of the cluster headache patients that received the treatment had a good response. If patients had overused medication, it did not affect the results. The study, therefore, concludes that injecting anesthesia into the nerves to prevent or treat headache is useful for relieving pain in some patients.
